This sparked many questions to rise up in her young mind. Questions about who she was and how as an African American she fit into society.
Dr. Rumble gives credit for the answers to these questions to her parents, family members and successful African Americans in her community. Through them, she heard stories about her people’s history and important events. They also shared their personal stories of struggle, determination and success. Their stories were exciting to Dr. Rumble and made her proud of who she was. They gave her a determination to become the best that she could be. She grew up feeling good about herself and always believed she could become whatever she desired to be. One such desire was to learn as much as she could about her great history.
In the summer of 2017 Dr. Rumble took a journey herself. She traveled throughout the south to many historical sites. She visited places like Birmingham, Selma, Tuskagee, talking to expert historians and walking in the many places where history took place. What Dr. Rumble experienced during that time had a profound impact on her and she came away with a firm resolve that her life’s goal is to teach as many people as she can about African American history. It’s her further belief, that every child (not just the African American child) should learn the stories behind this great history.
It’s a story not told as part of the standard school curriculum. It’s a story for all people, bringing an awareness and understanding of why, how and what made the African American journey what it was and still is today. Dr. Rumble’s teaching blends together stories on the evils of slavery, with stories of overcoming victories and the achievements of a resilient people. She makes learning fun and challenges the human spirit.
It should be noted that Dr. Rumble is far from being a radical black activist. Her teaching abounds in a love for the truth, as well as a love for all, regardless of color or nationality. Bitterness, hatred and racial division is not tolerated in her classrooms and all are welcome to join and learn. Dr. Rumble’s only quest is to bring a greater awareness and understanding of the great history of the African American journey and to empower her students to reach their life’s goals, bettering themselves and the society they live in.
For the past 10 years Dr. Rumble has helped children, youth and adults who have been disconnected from this rich heritage. She empowers parents and their children to learn about their great culture and history. She inspires through her spiritual and historical teachings.
Dr. Rumble is an ordained minister and youth pastor. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, a master’s degree in Elementary Education, a second master’s in Educational Leadership, and a doctorate of Education in Instructional Leadership.
Dr. Rumble has a wealth of knowledge, which she has learned through life experiences and through traveling to many historical and biblical sites. She has traveled extensively to museums in the United States and to three countries in Africa.
Dr. Rumble lives in Connecticut with the love of her life, Rev. Michael J. Rumble. They enjoy doing life together, living each day to the glory and honor of God.

We believed it was important for Abby to learn African American history because it is an essential part of American history that she does not learn in school.
